George Li, Valentina Naforniţa and Renaud Capuçon all perform at Grafenegg Festival this summer, while composers Brett Dean and HK Gruber join the jury of the festival’s composer workshop concert, and Martyn Brabbins supports the workshop participants.
On 4 September, George Li joins the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev as soloist in Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1. Later that day, Renaud Capuçon appears with Orchestre National de France and Christoph Eschenbach to perform Saint-Saëns Violin Concerto No.3.
Valentina Naforniţa sings Mozart concert arias with the Cologne Radio Orchestra and Jukka-Pekka Saraste on 8 September.
Brett Dean and HK Gruber return to the Festival to sit on the jury of its Ink Still Wet Composer-Conductor Workshop. With the support of the Tonkunstler Orchestra and Martyn Brabbins, contemporary composers will have their work showcased in the workshop’s closing concert on 5 September. Both Dean and Gruber have held the post of Composer-in-Residence at the festival in previous years.
