George Li begins the new year in New Jersey, performing three concerts around the state with the New Jersey Symphony and conductor Xian Zhang. Performing Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.3, George and the orchestra appear in Englewood on 11 January and then continue on to Newark on 13 January and New Brunswick on 14 January.
Li is developing into a noted interpreter of Prokofiev, giving a critically acclaimed performance of his Third Piano Concerto at the Philharmonie in Berlin in 2016:
“The Boston-born George Li went at the piano like a man possessed in the Philharmonie during Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3. Naturally, the silver medallist’s extremely flexible virtuosity also incorporates quiet, transparently shimmering notes. The whole thing is certainly vibrant and thrilling.”
Der Tagesspiegel, October 2016
Li remains in the United States for his next concerts, appearing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Leonard Slatkin in February.
