George Li returns to Europe for two solo recitals in France this month, starting with his debut at the Auditorium du Louvre on 14 January 2016. Li performs Beethoven 32 Variations on an Original Theme in C minor, Rachmaninoff Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Ravel ‘La valse’ and Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.2. The concert will be recorded for deferred broadcast by France Musique.
On 15 January, Li travels to Lyon for a performance in the Les virtuoses du piano series organised by the Frédéric Chopin association. The programme features Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Ravel, and also includes Chopin’s Scherzo No.2 in B-flat minor, the Impromptu No.2 in F-sharp major, and the Variations on Là ci darem la mano.
Li last performed in France in August 2015, when he performed at the International Music Festival in Dinard to great success: “[Li] received a standing ovation from the Dinard audience […] He presented five encores in the packed Stephan-Bouttet auditorium to an audience totally committed to his breathtaking virtuosity and natural grace’
